In Colorado voters get to approve better funding for our schools. This means that when our ballots come in the mail we all have a chance to have our voice heard. Your vote is important and will count.

3 ways to vote

By Mail
  • When your ballot arrives in the mail you can immediately fill it out, apply postage, and mail it right back!
Dropbox
  • Open 24/7
  • Located at many places throughout Harrison and Colorado Springs
  • You can place your ballot in ANY El Paso County drop box.
Vote In Person
  • Go to a Voter Services and Polling Center and vote in person
  • If your ballot did not arrive you can get a new ballot
  • If your ballot was lost or destroyed you can get a new ballot

  • Colorado is a same day registration state. You can register to vote at a Voter Services and Polling Center all the way until polls close at 7pm on November 6th.

The how-to’s of voting

Voting in Colorado is really easy. Since we are an “all mail ballot” state your ballot will arrive in your mailbox the week of October 15th.

Step 1:

Make sure your voter registration is up to date by visiting the Secretary of State’s website

Step 2:

Be on the lookout for your ballot at the address listed on your voter registration

Step 3:

Fill out your ballot, making sure to vote YES on your ballot. Make sure to sign the envelope ensuring you filled out your ballot.

Step 4:

Place your ballot in the mail with appropriate postage or return it to one of the many drop boxes or polling places in El Paso County

Ballot Language

SHALL EL PASO COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2 (HARRISON) DEBT BE INCREASED $180 MILLION, WITH A REPAYMENT COST OF NOT MORE THAN $335 MILLION AND SHALL DISTRICT TAXES BE INCREASED NOT MORE THAN $16.2 MILLION ANNUALLY, AND SHALL SUCH DEBT BE ISSUED FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PURPOSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • PROVIDING IMPROVEMENTS AND RENOVATIONS TO ALL EXISTING SCHOOLS AND FACILITIES;
  • IMPROVING SECURITY, SAFETY, TECHNOLOGY, AND ADA COMPLIANCE AT ALL SCHOOLS AND FOR ALL STUDENTS
  • EXPANDING SOARING EAGLES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND SAND CREEK INTERNATIONAL ELEMENTARY TURNING EACH INTO K-8 SCHOOLS;
  • BUILDING A NEW UP-TO-DATE FACILITY FOR CARMEL MIDDLE SCHOOL;

AND

THE DISTRICT SHALL ENSURE ACCOUNTABILITY WITH A CITIZENS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE WHICH SHALL ANNUALLY REVIEW AND REPORT TO THE PUBLIC ON THE USE OF FUNDS;

SUCH DEBT TO BE EVIDENCED BY THE ISSUANCE AND PAYMENT OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, WHICH SHALL BEAR INTEREST, MATURE, BE SUBJECT TO REDEMPTION, WITH OR WITHOUT PREMIUM OF NOT TO EXCEED 3%, AND BE ISSUED, DATED, AND SOLD AT SUCH TIME OR TIMES, AT SUCH PRICES (AT, ABOVE OR BELOW PAR) AND IN SUCH MANNER AND CONTAINING SUCH TERMS, NOT INCONSISTENT HEREWITH, AS THE DISTRICT MAY DETERMINE; AND SHALL AD VALOREM PROPERTY TAXES BE LEVIED IN ANY YEAR, WITHOUT LIMITATION AS TO RATE, TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF, PREMIUM, IF ANY, AND INTEREST ON SUCH BONDS AND ANY BONDS ISSUED TO REFINANCE SUCH BONDS AND TO FUND ANY RESERVES FOR THE PAYMENT THEREOF; AND SHALL THE DISTRICT’S DEBT LIMIT BE INCREASED FROM AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO 20% OF THE DISTRICT’S ASSESSED VALUE TO AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO 6% OF THE DISTRICT’S ACTUAL VALUE, AS CERTIFIED BY THE EL PASO COUNTY ASSESSOR AND SHALL SUCH TAX REVENUES AND EARNINGS FROM THE INVESTMENT OF SUCH BOND PROCEEDS AND TAX REVENUES BE COLLECTED, RETAINED, AND SPENT AS A VOTER APPROVED REVENUE CHANGE UNDER ARTILE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION OR ANY OTHER LAW?
